Mitsubishi Electric is introducing a new 600V High Voltage Integrated Circuit (HVIC), the M81729JFP, for use in voltage converters of Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). EVs and HEVs use voltage converters incorporated with power devices to convert high-voltage current, which is used otherwise to power motors, into low-voltage current to power various equipment in the vehicle.

Melexis announces its next generation IC family for sensor-less and sensor based BLDC motor control in automotive applications. The new IC family consists of 4 base members; the MLX81205, MLX81207, MLX81210 and MLX81215. Each is available with a variety of memory configurations and in different package options. They all follow the very successful MLX81200 core integration concept - combining a voltage regulator, LIN transceiver, microcontroller unit (MCU), EEPROM, Flash, RAM, power FET pre-driver and several dedicated circuit blocks for highly efficient BLDC motor control from a single chip. Customers can realize a very small PCB design with a minimal bill of materials (BOM) to create simple or sophisticated actuators.

MathWorks today announced that Simulink code generation targets have been built into Freescale's new Motor Control Development Toolbox through Embedded Coder. The toolbox, consisting of Simulink motor control blocks and target-ready code generation support, lets automotive and industrial controls engineers design motor control systems using Freescale microprocessors in IEC 61508 (SIL3) and ISO 26262 (ASIL-D) compliant systems.
